Chateau Simard Half Bottle (37.5cl) 2009
- 91 / 100 James Suckling
- 91 / 100 Jeannie Cho Lee
Chateau Simard’s classical, refined style can be attributed not only to its fine vineyard location, but also to it traditional winemaking practices and distinctive aging program.
The 2009 cuvee offers a bouquet of graphite and wood, along with cherry pit, cassis, tobacco and walnut. The tannins are still tight and the texture is supple.
The Merlot (70%) and Cabernet Franc (30%) blend gives great elegance.
Chateau Simard is owned by the Vautheir family, who are well-known for the legendary Saint Emilion estate, Chateau Ausone. Chateau Simard has a long history dating back to the 1700’s. The property takes its name from one if its previous owners, Count Simard
