Mercurey is located in the Cote Chalonnaise, in southern Burgundy and is the most sought-after of the villages in the Cote.

Producers here make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that tend to be riper and fuller bodied than many of the regions to the north.
Mercurey takes its name from a Roman temple, and from the days of the Roman empire up through the Middle Ages, it was a major center for trade and was well-known for the quality of its wines.

Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir displays a beautiful, deep ruby red colour
Attractive spicy cherry, strawberry and ripe raspberry aromas give way into a hint of liquorice and black tea. With a fruity initial attack, the wine unfolds secondary notes of red and purple flowers and just the faintest touch of wood spice.
Chanson's Mercurey is both generous and refreshing, with well-integrated tannins and a long, supple finish. The promise of red fruit suggested on the nose is delivered, ripe and mouthwatering. Candied violets and a hint of clove round out the palate to yield a truly delicious, satisfying wine.

Food Pairing

Peking duck
Grilled eel
Pork ribs in sweet plum sauce
