Alain Jaume Vacqueyras 2014
- 90 / 100 Parker
Vacqueyras domain is located near the Gigondas Appelation Controllée, and is a 22 acres vineyard, aged more than 50 years old, and a pebble soil.
It offers a predominance of Grenache grapes, and this particular vintage is made of 60% of Black Grenache, 30% of Shiraz, and 10% of Mourvèdre. Most of the harvest maturates in vats, and 30% maturates in French Oak barrels. The wood barrel flavors do not overwhelm any of the Jaume wines, but magnifies their qualities.
This Vacqueyras vintage is a typical “Garrigue” stylish wine, with attention to detail, and a good 10-year investment. It goes well with duck dishes, and vegetarian choices, with an emphasis on the Grenache grapes.
EYE: An opaque rubis red robe, deep and intense for the eye
NOSE: It offers aromas of plum and blueberries, as well as grilled herbs –from the Garrigue
MOUTH: A Vacqueyras bottle with rich tannins for the palate, which harmonize the smoothness of the wine had a long finish full of spices.
