Alain Jaume Cotes du Rhone Les Champauvins 2014
“Les Champauvins” Domaine du Grand Veneur, refers to 34 hectares plots, located in the northern area of Châteauneuf du Pape.
Soils are made mostly of red clay, rocks such as pebbles, and the particularity of grapes harvested on this parcel, is that they have benefited from a temperature of up to 55 degrees Celsius, radiating back at night from the pebbles.
The wine produced is unique, as the grapes reach perfect maturity. Grape variety includes 70% of Black Grenache, 20% of Shiraz, and 10% of Mourvèdre.
EYE: Les Champauvins has a brilliant bright garnet color.
NOSE: It is full of fruits aromas, from cherry liqueur, to black currant and a peppery spice nose.
MOUTH: A very dense and full bodied wine, with a taste towards Châteauneuf du Pape rather than Côtes du Rhône. Strong tannins, but elegant and with a silky finish.
